Judi Windleharth, LMHC
I have an undergraduate degree in Women’s Studies and a Master’s in Library and Information Science. In my own journey, I felt strongly called that my next step was to work as a licensed mental health counselor. I went back to school at Saybrook University where I earned a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling with a Clinical Mental Health specialization.
I completed my internship at North Shore Youth and Family Services where I discovered that, while my training as a talk therapist has great value, I wanted more ways to help my clients process their traumatic experiences. Before I graduated, I completed my EMDR training with Jamie Marich at the Institute for Creative Mindfulness. I integrated this into my practice right away, and saw how my clients made progress in different ways than with talk therapy alone.
Observing how this helped clients reach their goals, I have focused on building my skills in this modality. I have consulted with EMDR experts, and pursued extensive continuing education to become a certified therapist through EMDRIA. EMDRIA is a membership organization of mental health professionals dedicated to the highest standards of excellence and integrity in EMDR.

When it comes to ensuring your well-being, I recognize that specialized care can often make a significant difference in your healing journey. Whether it's an eating disorder specialist, a clinician with additional training in treating substance use disorders, or a practitioner that works specifically with active suicidal ideation, I am committed to helping you find the right support tailored to your unique needs. EMDR is also most successful when clients have a degree of stability and safety in their daily life, thus might not be appropriate for someone in a relationship with active intimate partner violence. I have access to a network of these specialists, and can help you find the right experts who can help you thrive.
